While the winter season is winding down, several global and domestic factors are currently keeping energy prices at historic highs:

• Global Geopolitical Conflict: Ongoing instability in the Middle East has disrupted major oil production hubs and critical shipping routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz. This has caused the global price of crude oil to surge past $110 per barrel this month.
• Supply Chain Constraints: Due to the international situation, refineries are currently prioritizing the production of jet fuel and diesel. This “triage” in refining has left domestic heating oil inventories at some of their lowest levels in over two decades.
• Regional Inventory Levels: Here in New England, we rely heavily on fuel arriving via the Colonial Pipeline and maritime shipments from Canada. Both of these channels are currently facing increased demand and logistical delays, which impacts the wholesale “replacement cost” we pay at local terminals.

What We Are Doing for You: Despite these challenges, our team is working around the clock to secure inventory and ensure that our local supply remains steady. We are closely monitoring federal actions, including the recent Jones Act waivers and potential releases from the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve, which are intended to bring more fuel to our region.
